Jodi Sproule - Preschool Casa Teacher
I have known since the age of four-years-old that I wanted to work with young children. Growing up, I took every opportunity possible to work with young children whether it was babysitting on evenings and weekends or teaching Sunday school at church – being with children is what made me happy! When I was about ten-years-old I was introduced to the Montessori Philosophy and knew that I was very interested in pursuing this as a career choice. When the time came to further my education, I took my Montessori teacher training at Sheridan College and graduated top of my class in 2005. I have worked at a couple Montessori schools in the Niagara Region over the past four years and I am constantly in awe while watching what children are capable of when given the right tools and when placed in the right environment. It always amazes me when a four-year-old spontaneously makes words on a mat without ever being “taught” how to spell, or when I see the excitement on the face of a three-year-old who after much practice can now zip up his own coat – just some examples of the everyday miracles that Montessori teachers get to witness every year! I am excited to continue teaching at Beyond Montessori School and I look forward to the new experiences to come this year.
“There are many who hold, as I do, that the most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed.”
